Promoting Literacy And Theatre With A Free Production For Young Audiences

Opens June 2 at Heights Community Church

ROANOKE, VA – May 25, 2018 – Mill Mountain Theatre will continue its 2018 Young Audiences season with Robert & Willie Reale’s musical A Year With Frog And Toad – TYA Version, which will open on June 2 at 10am at Heights Community Church and tour around the region offering free performances.
The Mill Mountain Theatre 2018 Summer Apprentice Company will perform this show around the region at schools, libraries, parks and neighborhood venues to delight families. Admission is free, and free books will be distributed to young audience members as part of Mill Mountain Theatre’s initiative connecting theatre to literacy. A Year With Frog And Toad is appropriate for children of all ages.
This charming musical, the first children’s show to reach Broadway, was nominated for three Tony Awards in 2003. A 60 minute one-act play, A Year With Frog And Toad depicts a year in the life of two amphibian friends and a host of other woodland characters. As said by director Christopher Castanho, “though the story features all animal characters, the scenarios and experiences that they go through are relatable for people of all ages: making new friends, facing your fears, taking responsibility…We’ve all had so much fun bringing Frog, Toad, and the other forest creatures to life, and we can’t wait for you to join us!”
A Year With Frog And Toad will be performed on June 2, 6, 8-9, 11, 13-15, 19-21, 23, 26-27, and 29-30. Tickets are free for all ages at the door. For more show information and for a complete show schedule visit https://millmountain.org/production/year-frog-

A Year With Frog And Toad will be performed by Mill Mountain Theatre’s 2018 Summer Apprentice Company, which is comprised of five college students studying to pursue a professional career in the arts. The Apprentice Company can also be seen in Spring Awakening and Shrek The Musical – TYA Version this season.
