The Jungle Book, a short play based on the classic stories by Rudyard Kipling, is MMT’s summer outreach production, taking live theatre to unconventional settings, including parks and libraries. This production will feature our Summer Apprentice Company.
Published in 1894, The Jungle Book is a collection of fables set in the Indian jungle using anthropomorphized animals to teach moral lessons. Widely considered a classic of children’s literature, the stories have been adapted numerous times for both film and stage due to their evocative setting and imaginative characterizations. As part of MMT’s continuing initiative connecting theatre and literacy, the Pay What You Can performances will include free books for children.
