Roanoke, VA – Get ready for a theatrical treat as Mill Mountain Theatre brings the Broadway hit Waitress, The Musical to the Trinkle MainStage from March 12 to March 30, 2025. Performances will be held at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM on select dates.
Based on the 2007 film, Waitress tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, a small-town waitress and expert pie maker, who dreams of escaping her unfulfilling marriage and finding happiness. Encouraged by her quirky coworkers and an unexpected romantic connection, Jenna embarks on a journey of self-discovery and resilience, all while creating mouthwatering pies that reflect her hopes and emotions.
Set to a stunning score by Grammy-nominated artist Sara Bareilles, Waitress offers songs that beautifully capture life’s complexities. From the heart-wrenching “She Used to Be Mine” to the vibrant “Opening Up,” each song provides a window into Jenna’s inner world and the highs and lows of her journey. The playful duet “Bad Idea” and the uplifting “Everything Changes” remind audiences that love and hope can blossom even in the messiest of situations.
But let’s not forget the pies—because in Waitress, they’re more than just desserts! Pies are a key part of the storytelling, serving as a reflection of Jenna’s creativity and emotions.
Adding to the charm of this production is its perfectly timed opening during National Pie Week, which overlaps with the widely celebrated National Pi Day on March 14. Though Pi Day honors the mathematical constant 3.14, it has become synonymous with indulging in pies—making Waitress the perfect way to celebrate both the holiday and the artistry of storytelling through food.
